Library Thing

Found this a bit confusing but I can't tell if that's just me being ignorant. I found these reveiws very interesting. http://ipac.slco.lib.ut.us/ipac20/ipac.jsp?index=ISBNEX&term=0307265439#focus

Wetpaint

I had a bit of a play around I looked at favourite receipes, music etc I found it easy to browse but I got a bit stuck with the so called Easy Edit button. Perhaps its just me after all its late and I'm tired anyway I did add a link to let you know that I WAS THERE but couldn't get it to go below the last entry. If I wanted to look for some nice receipe ideas as I love to cook I would diffinitely go to wetpaint again.

Wiki

I find Wikipedia really good although I do know that because anyone can add to it that some of the information might not be correct. I find myself using it for instance if a book comes into my hand as I'm checking it in and it's usually a biography or autobiography and I can't remember if the person is still alive, anyway I looked at the wiki on books and I thing that it would be a fantastic idea for the library to have a wiki on book reviews it's just finding someone who had the time to do it. I liked the reveiw for this book I have to say it made me giggle.
The title is 'The Dewey Decimal System of love' http://172.16.179.11/search/tdewey+decim/tdewey+decim/1,2,2,B/frameset&FF=tdewey+decimal+system+of+love&1,1,

Web 2.0 and its future in the Library

Even though I can't say that the computer is one of my favourite tools (except for doing a bit of shopping on Strawberry) I do feel that it is going to be the future for libraries. People seem to be constantly searching for knowledge and I have to admit that in some ways I think that being able to access that information so easily via the computer is a great thing. So many teenagers who don't have parents that are comfortable talking about some of lifes most important subjects can now find out for themselves the information that they need, some families still can't afford the luxury of having a home computer so this is where the library comes in. In the new world of technology the simple fact of libraries providing the community with a very important service (free computer use) is a really great thing.

Technorati

Well what a complicated web site I really didn't find this an easy site to browse through at all. I'd say that its a web tool that I myself would never use. I found this sentiment from a blogger on Technorati and I must admit that I feel that I would have to agree.http://www.technorati.com/posts/bBxiPKdHNKBo12ODAbIIwIZjD56EbD6eJ5ax9LqZlLg%3D

Del.icio.us

Well what did I think of tags and bookmarks. I did find it interesting and if you had plenty of time to sit and browse it would be very useful, as you can see I've added on one of my favourite places, I like to listen to my favourite music while I'm mending library books. I don't think that in the library at the information desk is would be any use as it would just take far to long but I do think that it would be useful as information to be past on tohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuB8xWeA59I are customers.

About RSS feeds

I really found these very interesting. I think that for patrons of the library who are confident using the computer they would absolutely love these. Just think of all the information that you can access storys from all around the world. As you can see I have been able to add two links to my very own blog that are off interest to me. RSS feeds are just another way of gaining information that helps make the rest of the world seem not so very far away.

Another lovely RSS feed.

This one made me laugh as there is a lovely picture of Ian Paisley who must be now as old as the hills but still at it, there he is giving the finger. I must say though its a bit sad to read that the troubles still go on over there we just don't hear about ithttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/default.stm over here.

This was one of my favourite RSS feeds blog sight

Flicker FD Toys

I really enjoyed looking through flicker I really liked the FD Toy's site. I think that it would be lovely to take pictures of people and make them into say a Jigsaw or have lot's of photo's of all your friends and family and make it into a mosaic. I am not a member of flicker but I'd like to put this link on for you to see. Its a sight that I would wake up to every day of my life until coming to New Zealand. It makes me feel a bit homesick. .http://www.flickr.com/photos/lawntffoto/235404520/

Technology

I like the mobile phone I think that it's one of the best things man ever invented. When you have family living on the other side of the world it is just amazing that within seconds you can send a text and find out what there up to.
